Douglas Fir Timbers

Brown & Rutherford stocks virtually all sizes of fir timber. 3x10, 3x12, 6x6, 6x8, 8x8 10x10 and l2xl2, in most items up to 24' lengths. We can readily resaw special sizes, for example, if you require 4x8 we would resaw an 8x8 in half, larger sizes and lengths available from our mill associations.

Fir is renowned for its durability, strength, and structural integrity. It is also very resistant to decay and rot. We supply timbers for bridge beams and supports. Many of our timbers are being used to help construct the expanded Winnipeg floodway, due for completion in 2010. Also, fir is used extensively for truck decking.

Fir beams provide the strong support required for commercial storage sheds. Support poles are used for open sheds storing products that require weather protection.

Timber frame homes are re-gaining popularity due to old world charm and longevity. Many timber frame homes in Britain are still in use after 3 to 4 centuries. A timber frame home is built to last several life times.
